Westerville South cruised to an easy victory at home against Briggs in their Sectional final. South started fast and never trailed in the game. Briggs kept within striking distance early, going into halftime only down by 8. Sophomore Drey Carter paced South’s scoring in the first half with 11 points including three three-pointers. South put their foot on the pedal in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Briggs 21-11 in the period and would go on to win comfortably. Junior Jaiden Guice led South in scoring with a game high 30 points. Guice had his inside-outside game on full display, draining 5 three-pointers and scoring at will in the paint. Junior Tabari Howard and sophomore Drey Carter also finished in double digits for South with each scoring 13 points. Andrew Grubbs led Briggs in scoring with 19 points. South, seeded #11 in the Columbus Region upped their record to 16-8 with the win. This was the final game in South’s 60 year old Wildcat gym as they open up a new stadium next year. Up next for South is a TBD neutral site matchup against region #2 seed Hilliard Bradley on Wednesday, 3/4 at 7 PM.
