Warmest Greetings All!
We had a meeting with Mr. Good this morning and got word that we have the green light to begin our regular summer conditioning! The official date given by the district is tomorrow, but we are going to start next Monday, June 8 at 8:00 am at the stadium gates. The reason we are waiting until next week to get started is because, as you would expect, there are a set of guidelines we must adhere to and some “paperwork” that needs to be completed first. By waiting until Monday we hope everyone has enough time to digest what we are being asked to do, prepare for it, and get all of the paperwork done. I have lilnked the document with the updated conditioning information, but a few key points to highlight:
1. In order to participate in team activities originating at school (AKA our daily conditioning runs) you MUST be registered on Final Forms and the COVID-19 Assumption of Risk form (also on final forms) must be signed by the athlete and parent.
2. Make sure you have your own water bottle – none will be provided, no fountains will be turned on
Please remember summer conditioning sessions are not mandatory. If you do not feel comfortable with socially distanced group runs at this point we totally understand! We are all still in uncharted waters right now, and how you and your family choose who, what, where, when, and how you interact with others is valid and respected. That’s also what the training calendar is for!
This updated information is also being posted to westervillesouthathletics.com as soon as I am done sending emails. If you have any cross country specific questions, comments, or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact Erin or I.
Stay safe, stay healthy, Go Cats!
Yours in running,
