Saturday, September 7 the Westerville South cross country teams went down to Chillicothe to race at the Zane Trace Cross Country Invitational. The teams raced through course challenges named things such as “agony,” “rollercoaster,” “curvy,” and “kamikaze.” Despite these challenges both teams persevered and all raced extremely tough; the coaches were all very proud of the efforts left on the course! Despite the challenges, Victor Gonzales was able to secure a new personal record by 9 seconds! The girls team took home the 3rd place trophy with Emily Ellsworth, Taylor Hughes, and Karina Deere leading the way and earning individual medals for placing in the top 30. Emma Henderson, Abby Cumming-Vukovic, Annalyssa Earl, Elise Bennett, Abbey Williams, Jillian Pride, Alli Tinkham, and Kat Stoll all took home individual ribbons for placing between 31st and 75th. The boys team took home 6th place with Donovan Slattery placing 8th and taking home an individual medal. Boys taking home individual ribbons included Isaac Combs, Chase Jackson, Andrew McCracken, Anthony Vilardo, Liam Allbritton, Gabe Combs, Jaxen Swank, Teague Svendsen, and Isaac Weaver.
