Wildcat swimmers competed at OSU in the 25th Annual Ned Reeb Invitational. The meet was comprised of two sessions, with the B Flight swimming on Friday night and A flight on Saturday. Senior swimmer Dylan Gary led the Wildcats in the B-Flight with first place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Gary was also on the Medley Relay of Andrews (Soph), Williams (Sr.), Gary (Sr.), and Crow (Sr.) that earned 4th place, and the Free Relay (same athletes) that earned a first place finish overall. Other top finishers for the Wildcats on Friday night were Allison Tinkham (Fr) who placed 5th in the 200 IM, Mason Crow (Sr) finished 3rd in the 50 Free. Top improvement for the meet went to Junior Makayla “MJ” Roberts who dropped an incredible 15 seconds off her personal best time in the 200 Freestyle.
Wildcats who qualified to compete in Saturday’s A flight of the Ned Reeb Invitational were Caroline Bowling (Fr), Emily Ellsworth (Fr), Taylor Henderson (Sr.), and Maeve Stacey (Soph). The ladies earned 18th overall for the 200 Medley Relay, and Freshman Caroline Bowling had an outstanding early season swim for the 500 Freestyle earning an 18th place finish overall.
Wildcat swimmers continue to be focused on improving technique and taking ownership of their practice habits, and those skills are starting to translate into time drops in the pool. The Wildcats head to Hilliard to take on Hilliard Darby High School in a dual meet on Saturday night at the Hilliard YMCA Pool, meet scheduled to start at 5 PM.
