Pickerington High School Central
Westerville South High School
The Wildcats came ready to play Tuesday night when the faced the Pickerington Central Tigers at HOME. It was a physical game played against a team that showed some speed up top, but South’s defense was up to the task and completed the night with a clean sheet, their second of the season. Deja Edwards contributed two goals along with Payton Glasco’s one to bring a second win for the season. The WIldcats now have a record of 2 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties, losing only to a top 10 ranked Gahanna.
South’s goalkeeper, Jenna Villacres played a solid game in the back, stopping several break-a-way attempts by Central to get on the board.
Recapping this match would not be complete without mentioning an outstanding performance by Allison Ricker in the midfield. Midfielders rarely get called out for their performances as there are few stats that can indicate their contribution to the game. However, it was clear that Allison’s effort on the field was a clear contribution to the outcome of the game. Her hustle all through a full 80 minutes was obvious. She had one of her best games ever.
Overall, the team played well. Defense was solid. Midfield held and played the ball well and the offense scored goals. It was a good night for the Wildcats.
Next up is Central Crossing at CC Thursday at 6:00pm
